Rio News! Volume 9, Issue 6 Welcome (and welcome back) to Rio. We are committed to communicating to you, at least monthly, through the Rio Newsletter NEW RIO WEBSITE ADDRESS RIO TOURNAMENT VOLUNTEER CLUB PASS SYSTEM United States Youth Soccer Association & Duke City Soccer League have both in recent months announced the introduction of a club pass system. The club pass system essentially allows a properly registered New Mexico Youth Soccer Association/Duke City Soccer League player to play for another team from within the same Club on a temporary basis. The rules associated with club pass are detailed and fairly complex. Rio recognizes the potential benefit of providing players that need additional challenges with the opportunity to “guest play” for another Rio team. However we also recognize the importance of the integrity of each team’s roster. In deciding when & where to utilize club pass we clearly need to balance & weigh the benefit to the player with the impact on the teams involved. Duke City Soccer League introduced the club pass last fall season on a trial basis. The Duke City Soccer League has decided to continue the use of the club pass program this spring season. Players can only be granted the opportunity to utilize the club pass with the approval of the Rio Director of Coaching and the coaches of the teams involved. We do not envision there being a lot of situations where club pass will be utilized at this stage. However we want to make you aware of these new rules and give you a basic understanding of how they may be used in the event that your team is impacted by club pass.
